National Metallurgical Laboratory, Jamshedpur, a constituent establishment of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), is a leading R&D organisation engaged in a large number of time bound projects of National/International importance as also in active research relating to mineral beneficiation, extraction of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, refractories, development of engineered materials, corrosion protection, failure analysis, remaining life assessment of components, process modeling etc. The laboratory is well equipped with infrastructural facilities like good library, computer centre, electronics and instrumentation, workshop besides having modern sophisticated instruments for carrying out R&D tasks.

Qualification : 1st Class B.E./B.Tech or equivalent qualification in Met. Engg/ Computer Sci. & Engg./IT or MCA Or M.E./ M.Tech or Ph.D or equivalent qualification in Met. Engg/Materials Engg/ Computer Sci. & Engg./IT.

Or Ph.D in Met. Engg./ Chem. Engg. and 3 years relevant experience or Ph.D in Management and 4 years relevant experience.

Or M.E./ M.Tech or equivalent qualification in Met.Engg./Mech. Engg./Electronics and Instrumentation with 8 years relevant experience. Or Ph.D in Engg. with 6 years relevant experience. , Desirable Qualification : Ph.D (with 1st class B.E./B.Tech.) and 6 years relevant experience.
Scientist Gr.IV(4) (Process Met. & Chem. Sc.): 02 posts, Pay Scale : Rs.14300-400-18300/-, Age : 45 years., Qualification : 1st Class B.E./B.Tech in Ceramics Engg. / Chem. Engg./Met.
