The Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) is an autonomous Institute fully funded and administered by the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India. It functions as a National Centre for Research in Tropical Meteorology and has scientifically and academically stimulating environment for research in applied and fundamental aspects of ocean-land-atmosphere interactions in the tropics.

The IITM is looking for recruiting bright talented candidates of Indian origin for the following positions to do research in the areas of (i) Development of a Dynamical Prediction System of Seasonal Mean Monsoon Rainfall, (ii) Extended Range Prediction System for Active and Break Spells of the Monsoon, (iii) Parameterization of Tropical Convection for Weather and Climate Models and (iv) Interaction between Tropical Convection and Environment and Physics and Dynamics of Tropical Clouds using Radars.

Qualification: A Doctorate or equivalent in Meteorology, Atmospheric Sciences, Oceanography, Physics, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Applied Physics, Geophysics from a recognized university / institution with good scientific standing.

Name of the Post: Scientist `C`
No. of Vacancy: 6 Posts ( 5 Posts for general candidates and one post reserved for Orthopedic handicapped)
Scale of Pay: Rs. 15600-39100
Qualification: Master™s Degree preferably a Doctorate in Meteorology, Atmospheric Sciences, Oceanography, Physics, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Applied Physics, Geophysics, Electronics, B.E./ B. Tech./ M. Tech.(Electronics/Electrical Engineering) degree from a recognized university/institution.
