Institute of Microbial Technology (IMTECH), is a constituent R&D establishment of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). The institute is engaged in research in many different areas of modern biological sciences and microbe-related biotechnology, with special emphasis on research that is interdisciplinary and of a collaborative nature, such as immunity and infectious diseases, protein design and engineering, fermentation science, microbial physiology & genetics, yeast biology, bioinformatics, microbial systematics, exploitation of microbial diversity for bioactives and enzymes for biotransformations etc. (please see URL: http://www.imtech.res.in).

Requests for issue of application forms by post received after 25.07.2008 will not be entertained. Completed applications in all respects, in the prescribed form accompanied by attested copies of certificates, testimonials in support of age, educational qualifications, experience, etc. mentioned in the application, along with non-refundable application fee of Rs.100/- (US$25 in case candidate applying from abroad) for general and OBC category candidates (NO application fee for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates/PH candidates and regular employees of CSIR), by means of Demand Draft (issued by State Bank of India only except for the candidate applying from abroad) valid for at least 6 months, drawn in favour of the “Director, IMT, Chandigarh” payable at State Bank of India, Chandigarh, should be sent to the Controller of Administration, Institute of Microbial Technology, Sector 39-A, Chandigarh-160 036 so as to reach on or before 31.07.2008.
