Indian Air Force, The recruitment of Personnel Below Officer Rank (PBOR) as an Airman in the IAF is conducted through All India Selection Tests and Recruitment Rallies. All India Selection Tests are conducted at the Airmen Selection Centres (ASCs) located all over India as per schedule whereas the Recruitment Rallies are conducted from time to time in selected areas/regions of particular States / Union Territories of the country. IAF invites applications from unmarried male candidates for selection test in November 2009 to join as Airman in Group ‘X’ (Technical) Trades.

Airman Group “X” Technical Trades:

PAY & ALLOWANCES: During training, a stipend of Rs. 5,700/-pm will be paid.  On completion of training, starting gross emoluments at the minimum of scale of pay for Group ‘Y’ trades will be Rs. 12,000/-pm (approximately) and for Group ‘X’ (Technical) trades will be Rs. 13,500/-pm (approximately) which, in subsequent years, may rise up to  Rs. 23,350/-pm  (approximately) for  Group ‘Y’ trades and  Rs. 25,000/-pm (approximately) for Group ‘X’ (Technical) trades depending upon the rank attained.  In addition, perks such as Ration, Clothing, Medical Facilities, Accommodation, Leave Travel Concession (LTC) etc. are also provided as per the existing rules.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION:
1. Group ‘X’ Technical Trades: Intermediate/10+2 with pass marks in Mathematics and Physics with a minimum of 50% marks in overall aggregate. OR 3 year Diploma course in Engineering (Mechanical/ Electrical/ Electronics/ Automobile/ Computer Science/ Instrumentation Technology/ Information Technology) with at least 50% marks from a Govt recognised Polytechnic Institute.
Age Limit: 17 – 22 Years.
2. Group ‘Y’ All Group Trades: Candidates should have passed Intermediate/10+2 with science, arts, commerce subjects or equivalent vocational cources with minimum 50% marks in aggregate.
Vocational courses should be recognised by CBSE/State Educational Boards/Coucils which are duly recognised with 10+2 by Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
Age Limit: 17 -22 Years.
3. Group ‘Y’ Musician Trade: Should be able to read and write English and have knowledge of elementary Arithmetic. Should be proficient in playing at least one musical instrument out of Trumpet /Bass/ Saxophone /Clarinet/ Euphonium /Jazz Drum /Picolo / Bass Trombone / Key Board/ Guitar / Sarod / Violin / Viola / Cello / Contra Bass (String Bass).
Age Limit: 17-35 Years.
Medical Standards : Height: Minimum acceptable height: 152.5 cm, Chest: Minimum range of expansion: 5 cm, Vision: 6/36 each eye., Correctable with spectacles: at least 6/9 each eye., Diopteric power: not exceeding +3.5.
Selection Procedure: 1. Written Test – Test will be held during November 2009.
2. Physical Fitness Test (PFT): Those who pass written test will undertake Physical Fitness Test. It consist of 1.6 Km run to be completed in 8 min.,
3. Interview: Those who pass both the written and PFT will be called for interview.
Training : Initial Joint Basic Phase Training (JBPT) will be provided at Airmen Training School, Belgaum (Karnataka) for 12 weeks. After it Trade Training will be provided.
