Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology (WIHG) is establishing a dedicated “Centre for Glaciology” at WIHG, Dehradun. Major objective of the Centre is to mount a coordinated research initiative on Himalayan glaciers to understand the factors controlling the effects of climate on glaciers. To develop trained manpower and achieve major scientific goals in these challenging areas of glaciology, the Institute invites applications from eligible Indian nationals for the following positions:

A. Institute Positions :
Research Associates : 04 posts, Age Limit: 35 years as on 30.04.2009. Scale pay Rs. 16000/- plus admissible House rent Allowance, which is at present @20%. Qualification : First Class M.Sc./M.Tech Geology/Glaciology/Hydrology/Meteorol ogy/Geophysics/Physics.

Junior Research Fellow (JRF) : 06 posts, Age Limit: 28 years as on 30.04.2009. Scale pay Rs. 12000/- plus Admissible House Rent Allowance (HRA),which is at present 20% during the first and second year and Rs.14,000/- p.m. consolidated plus admissible HRA during subsequent years.
Qualification : First Class M.Sc./M.Tech.inGeology/Glaciology/Hydrology /Meteorology/Geophysics/Physics or in any allied subject.

B. Centre for Glaciology positions :
Research Associates : 03 posts, Age Limit: Not exceeding 35 years as on 30.04.2009. Scale pay Rs.16,000/- p.m. consolidated plus admissible House Rent Allowance, which is at present @20%. Sufficient supporting contingent grant for field work etc. will be provided.
Qualification : Ph.D. degree in Geology/Geophysics in any emerging areas of Earth Sciences. Scale pay 12,000/- p.m. consolidated plus admissible House Rent Allowance (HRA), which is at present @20% during the first and second year and Rs.14,000/- p.m., 
 
Junior Research Fellow (JRF) : 08 posts, Age Limit: Not exceeding 28 years as on 30.04.2009. Scale pay 12,000/- p.m. consolidated plus admissible House Rent Allowance (HRA), which is at present @20% during the first andsecondyearandRs.14,000/- p.m., Qualification : 1s class M.Sc./M.Tech. degree in Geology/Geophysics or allied subject with consistently good academic record. Candidates who have cleared NET/GATE.
